Literature Detail
Adhesion Promoters for UV/EB Curable Pressure Sensitive Adhesives
UV curable pressure sensitive adhesives are currently being used in the tape and label industries. Typically, the adhesive is applied to the clear film, cured and wound for tape. If labels are being made, then the labels are coated, release liner applied (usually clear if UV) and then cured. Since most of the previous work has been in the area of urethane acrylate oligomers, this study was done using new oligomers with all different chemical backbones. The most promising results are described within this paper, but numerous oligomers were investigated. The following backbones were studied: polybutadiene with high vinyl content (Ricon 150 series), polyester acrylates, polycarbonate acrylates, brominated urethane acrylates, chlorinated polyester acrylates, water soluble polyester acrylates, and additional urethane acrylates.
